9/11 September 9, 2001 Because 9/11 occurred before I was born, I will be telling to story through my mom’s eyes. September 11, 2001 was my parent’s anniversary. My mom was 7 months pregnant with me and my older brother was 3. My dad left for work in the morning around 8:15 as usual. Because it was such a beautiful day, my mom and my brother were going to go the Memphis Zoo. But before they left, my mom checked the weather to see if it would stay that way the rest of the week. She turned on the news at 9:00 to find out that Flight 11 had hit the North Tower of the World Trade Center. My mom was in complete shock. As she was watching the news, she noticed that another plane was flying at a really low altitude. Before she could ponder what happened, Flight 175 slammed into the South Tower of the World Trade Center. My mom instantly knew that this wasn’t an accident, this was a terrorist attack against the United States. Global War on Terror 2001-2014 For me, this is a personal lesson because my dad served in this war. On the same day as 9/11, President George W. Bush declared an unofficial “war on terror.” His remarks were refined in the weeks that followed, and by September 20, 2001, the U.S. presented the Taliban with a five-point ultimatum 1. The Taliban turn over the leaders of al-Qaeda 2. They release imprisoned foreigners 3. They close all terrorist-training camp in Afghanistan 4. They relinquish all known terrorists in their nation 5. They give the United States access to terrorist-training camps for future inspection With the United States, United Kingdom, Australia, and Afghan militias, they began aerial bombings of the Taliban and al-Qaeda on October 7, 2001. This was the beginning of the War in Afghanistan, the first overarching strategy was called Operation Enduring freedom. Operation Enduring freedom would drag on like a game in the crags of Afghanistan and spread to Africa, Central America, Eurasia, and Southeast Asia. it was unclear is Saddam Hussein was involved in 9/11 and he was also a pending threat the the United States. So another war in Iraq started. War in Afghanistan continued until 2014.

Organ Theft Organ Theft: The practice of stealing people's organs via surgery, which can then be used for further purposes such as transplants or sold on the black market. One particularly common variant of this trope is the "kidney theft" which the victim is conned somehow and drugged into unconsciousness, and then wakes up kidney-less in a bathtub full of ice, often with a message attached telling them to go to a hospital. This has been happening a lot over near Las Vegas. The Elders The Elders are an independent group of global leaders working together for peace and human right. This organization was formed by Nelson Mandela. They believe that in any conflict, it is important to listen to everyone - no matter how unpalatable or unpopular this may be. The Elders are independent global leaders working together for peace and human rights. They are not bound by the interests of any nation, government or institution. The Assassination of Amwar Sadat October 6, 1981
Anwar Sadat was born in 1918 in a poor village along the Nile River. At age 18, he enrolled in a military academy. After graduation, he was transferred to a distant outpost in Sudan where he meet Gamal Abdel Nassar. Nassar started the Association of Free Officers, a small secret society designed to overthrow the British. Finally, in 1952, the Association of Free Officers lead the Egyptian Revolution. When this happened, Gamel became the president of Egypt and Sadat became the vice president. President Nassar proceeded to close the Strait of Tiran on May 22, 1967. This led to the Six-Day War. Well, president Nassar died of a heart attack, and this put Sadat as President. On October 6, 1973, Anwar Sadat led Egypt and another Arab nation in a surprise attack against Israel. Sadat gave an interview stating he would go to Israel in person if that helped settle the difference between Egypt and Israel. after 13 days of intense meetings, Sadat and Menachem Begin signed a peace treaty called the Camp Davids Accords, on September 17, 1978. On October 6, 1981, Anwar Sadat was shot 37 times. A group of Muslim Brotherhood took full responsibility for the assassination of Anwar Sadat. Roe v. Wade January 22, 1973
At present, the abortion court case still stands, and proponents of life are passionately fighting to overturn it. In 1969, a 21 year old woman, Norman McCory, was in a difficult situation. she was pregnant with her 3rd child, her mother claimed custody of her 1st born, and she gave up her 2nd child for adoption. She wanted an abortion, but it was illegal in Texas. First, she tried to lie by saying that she was raped, but that didn't work. Then she tried to have an illegal abortion, but the nearest clinic was shut down. She decided to go to court, and her attorneys were Linda Coffee and Sarah Weddington. During this time, Norma wanted to protect her identity and used the fictitiously name "Jane Roe." The district attorney of Dallas, representing the state of Texas was Henry Wade. In the end, neither sides were happy with the judges decision. Well, they then decided to take this case to the Supreme Court. Seven out of nine Supreme Court judges ruled in favor of Jane Roe and handed down their decision om January 22, 1973. This made abortion a legal practice in all 50 states. Watergate and the Resignation of President Richard M. Nixon August 8, 1974 At 2:30 A.M. om June 17, 1972, five men were caught in the middle of a burglary. The scene of the crime was a massive hotel/office complex in D.C. It was quickly discovered that the office that was violated om June 17 was the Headquarters of the Democratic National Committee (D.N.C.) Evidence from the scene revealed the burglars were trying to steal information with high-tech cameras, and they were trying to illegally wire tap and "bug' the office. One of the burglars was James McCord, a former Employee of the C.I.A. Two Washington Post reporters, Carl Bernstein and Bob Woodward, pieced together something interesting- and that was the fact that James McCord, former C.I.A. agent, was on the President Nixon's payroll for his re-election campaign. Investigators wanted to hear the secret tapes that Nixon had, bet he refused to turn them over. As it turns out, the tapes were loaded with information (and laced with foul language) that linked President Nixon, without a doubt, to the botched-up plot of the Watergate break-in. Vice president Gerald Ford was sworn into office on August 9, 1974. |
